Google Opens Safety Engineering Centre in Hyderabad



    Telangana has partnered with Google to establish the Google Safety Engineering Centre (GSEC) in Hyderabad, which marks India’s first GSEC and the fifth globally. The centre’s focus is on enhancing security and online safety products for the Indian market.

Location and Significance

    Hyderabad is selected as the site for the GSEC, followed by centres in Tokyo, Dublin, Munich, and Malaga. This location marks Hyderabad’s reputation as a leading IT hub in Asia.

Objectives of the GSEC

    The GSEC aims to develop advanced security products, which will address specific needs within India. The centre will also engage in cutting-edge research. AI-powered security solutions will be a key focus area.

Collaboration and Community Engagement

    The GSEC will serve as a platform for cybersecurity expert, will encourage collaboration among professionals in the field. This initiative aims to encourage knowledge sharing and innovation.

    The establishment of the GSEC is expected to create jobs, will enhance skill development in cybersecurity and also strengthen India’s overall cybersecurity capabilities. The GSEC was officially announced on October 3, 2024. This announcement took place during the Google for India 2024 event. It has sparked competition among state of Indias for similar investments.

Government Support

    Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy expressed pride in this achievement. He views Google’s choice of Hyderabad as recognition of the city’s innovation. The government supports initiatives that promote technological advancements.

    Google has presence in Hyderabad. The city hosts the largest employee base for Google outside its headquarters. Additionally, Google is constructing its largest office in Hyderabad.

Study results open door to heart failure treatment with 'heart patch’           The BioVAT-HF-DZHK20 clinical trial is currently investigating a unique approach to address the unmet medical need in patients with advanced heart failure. Implantation of a tissue engineered heart patch, called engineered heart muscle (EHM), is developed to repair the failing heart. The EHM patch is a lab-grown heart muscle made up of induced pluripotent stem cell-derived heart cells embedded in a collagen hydrogel .
